Planted 1964
Who we are
A Gospel Community that Shares Hope, Shapes Believers, and Serves Christ Together.
Immanuel Baptist Church was planted in 1964 to reach Swansee Manor and the Lakes subdivisions that were being built.
The work and sacrifice of generations of believers have put us in a great position to continue reaching these neighbourhoods, as well as the other communities that have grown around us in the last sixty years.
What that means in ordinary terms: we are a Southern Baptist church of every age, sitting in a building with a peaked ceiling on Saunders Road. Some of our members joined in the 1960s and are still teaching Sunday school. Some arrived last month with the Air Force. A lot of our neighbours are military families at Bethel Manor and Langley, and a lot of them find us because we watch their kids one Saturday a month so they can go out to dinner.
We are led by a pastor and a board of elders, and served by a group of deacons who do most of the unglamorous work — the sound board, the coffee bar, the food pantry, the folding chairs. That is the church you would walk into on a Sunday.
Who we work with
Partners we send our money and our people to
In order to do the most ministry with the resources we have, we partner with a group of national, state, and local organisations. We examine these relationships regularly to make sure our purposes still align and that they are using the money we give faithfully.
